As we were driving into Glasgow today we got a wee bit of a shock when we looked up a street and saw this. There were police standing at the end of the street and a crowd gathered. Fortunately, it turned out they were just filming something. I’ve no idea what but it looked vaguely 28 days later-ish since there were all sorts of posters up for many different missing people and burn’t out cars etc. They appeared to be getting ready to film and we got moved along before we could figure out what they were filming but I’d be curious to find out.

[Edit] a quick search on Twitter reveals it to be the set of Ewan McGregors next film The Last Word.

Josh Brill

I was unaware of any of these artists when I drew the Magpie illustration recently but a post on Drawn has just made me aware of the Bird illustrations of Josh Brill, Eleanor Grosch and Charley Harper. Josh Brill’s are particularly gorgeous, but they are all fantastic. I can just imagine having a huge glossy coffee table book full of any of these.

EDIT: I’ll just throw this link of felt birds by Lauren Alane in here too since it kinda fits.

2nd EDIT: Jeez. It would appear there’s a whole subculture of stylised bird illustrators out there. I’ll throw Jojo Yeung into the mix now too

Just a little sketch I made earlier in the week. The view is Mount Vernon park in Glasgow.

It’s been a long time coming but finally, here’s the first few glimpses of artwork for the comic book I’m working on. Neither of them are finished. I’m not especially happy with the way Sam looks. Yann Tiersen will forever be associated with soundtracking Jean Pierre Jeunet’s 2001 cinematic masterpiece, Amelie. This would appear to be a fact which annoys him. In turn, his annoyance seems to annoy a lot of  his fans. Read the rest of this entry →
