Fantastic piece of handmade stopmotion animation. Be sure to check out the main website of the project for a better quality (but unembeddable) video and a whole load of behind the scenes goodies.
Yann Tiersen Glasgow ABC 1, 9th May 2009

Yann Tiersen will forever be associated with soundtracking Jean Pierre Jeunet’s 2001 cinematic masterpiece, Amelie. This would appear to be a fact which annoys him. In turn, his annoyance seems to annoy a lot of his fans.
More Photoshoppery

I’ve been working through some tutorials just trying to get to grips with the nuts and bolts of Photoshop now that I have it on my work box. The plan is to use a combination of Photoshop and Flash to produce the illustrations for the graphic novel. Here’s my latest drawing. I can take next to no credit for it since I was following tutorials but I learned a few tricks when making it…
New Design
I’ve been playing around with ideas for the design for the site since I’ve never been happy about the fact I use an off the shelf template. Here’s my first attempt…
Peter Funch
Photographer Peter Funch sets up his camera in a stationary position on the streets of New York and takes photo’s of the passers by. Then he makes composites of, for example, all the people talking on phones as they pass, or all those wearing red. Sometimes it’s hard to tell at first glance that it’s not just a straight point and shoot crowd scene, but there’s normally something not quite right about them that keeps you looking.

Where The Wild Things Are
It must be well over a year since the test footage leaked for this film and I’ve been eagerly awaiting it ever since. Sadly, there’s still at least another 6 months to wait (with no word of a UK release date yet). I’m probably looking forward to this one even more than Pixar’s UP. The new official Poster is out now and looks every bit as magnificant as the footage which has appeared so far.

Gris Grimly & Bobby Chiu
This post on the Tutorial9 blog on childrens book illustrators has exposed me to the rather wonderful work of both Gris Grimly and Bobby Chiu.

Script Frenzy
As mentioned previously, I’m gearing up to take part in Script Frenzy, which starts next Wednesday. Click the image above to go to my profile page on the SF site or check back here throughout April for updates. If you’re taking part, leave a comment with your SF name and I’ll add you as a writing buddy.

Over at the Logo Designer Blog they have an epic roundup of 400 of the finest business card designs doing the rounds.
Plenty highlights, as you might expect. The full post can be found here, but a few of my favourites can be found after the jump:
a Death in the making
A few years ago, I had no desire to be a writer. I envied people who could but didn’t think I had it in me. I’m certainly not one of those people who always wanted to write. I may have loved reading since before I started school but always had the assumption I was neither original or insightful enough to write anything that anyone else might want to read. That all changed in early March 2007, when, as hackneyed as it sounds, I had a dream.
